Brussels, Belgium (October 8, 2019) – The October 2019 edition of Accelerate Magazine, published online this week, examines the global effort to improve the efficiency of room air conditioners – in part through the use of propane refrigerant – so that the upsurge of comfort cooling in a warming world doesn’t exacerbate the climate crisis.
Debuting in June, Accelerate Magazine is the first news publication written for and about the most progressive business leaders working with climate-friendly natural refrigerants throughout the world. It incorporates shecco’s previously published regional magazines, Accelerate America, Accelerate Europe and Accelerate Australia & New Zealand.
The October issue of Accelerate Magazine (Vol. 1, No. 104) is viewable at no charge at http://accelerate24.news/magazines/. In addition, print copies are distributed at shecco’s ATMOsphere Europe conference in Warsaw on October 16-17.
The cover story of the new issue looks at some of the major global initiatives, like the Cool Coalition and the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program, that are addressing ways to improve the efficiency of room air conditioning and lower the demand for cooling. For example, AC units can improve their efficiency by using propane as a refrigerant and variable-speed components.
The October 2019 issue also features regional articles on: Weis Markets’ transcritical CO2 system maintaining efficiency; a Belgian Delhaize store cutting its energy bills with a ammonia/CO2/glycol system; a massive transcritical system at a produce store in South Africa; an Australian IGA store’s integrated refrigeration-AC-heating CO2 system; Japan’s largest warehouse using ammonia/CO2 technology; the Philippine’s first R290 store; and Spar’s use of R290 in China. Global trend articles include a review of World Ozone Day and a survey of attitudes toward climate change.
For the last 17 years, market accelerator shecco has been active in helping bring climate-friendly technologies faster to market. shecco supports over 100 partners worldwide in the HVAC&R sector, where the focus is on sustainable refrigeration, heating & cooling technologies using natural refrigerants. shecco offers a variety of services in three areas: 1) media, including online industry platforms, magazines and a catalog of dedicated research reports; 2) market development, including market research, consultancy and public affairs services, as well as special international projects; and 3) events, including international conferences and national workshops.
